because we needed a new post

I don't know why, but every time james and I see this picture of george we start laughing,

I was trying to take a cute picture of him to commemorate his two month mark.
but I guess he wasn't having it.
either he already thinks his mom is really dumb or I just have a very serious little boy.

a claim to fame...

yes, it's true george, at the young age of two months, has made his television debut!

my aunt Keri is a producer at KSL and she called to ask if we would help with a story on the wonders of breastfeeding. George excels in this genera so we said yes. Although, I must admit that after I agreed to the story I naively called my aunt back and asked if I would be on camera, as I had gone with the "stay at home mom look" yesterday. She laughed and reminded me she worked for the news, so yes a camera would be on me as well. bummer.

lucky for me I have talented in laws who helped dress us for our big moment. marci did my make-up and jill dressed george, and together we were set for our 15 mins of fame.  I guess George wanted to add a bit of drama to the story with a few tears. We were glad though that his cute cousins Harman and Annabelle joined in the fun.

invincible...?

One of my favorite games to play is Remember When.  the title of the game is pretty self explanatory,
it's when you remember great moments in your life that are timeless when it comes to having an eye watering, crotch wetting, ab crunching, or air gasping laugh, regardless of the emotion involved in the situation at the time.

there are three styles of remember when...
1. Instant Remember When: a dumb funny moment between family and friends, in which the remember when moment is recalled within seconds of it happening, thus adding to the hyper humor that usually created the moment.
2. Embarrassing/Awkward Remember When: a moment one was not really counting on being privy too or involved in. it may take a moment to a few years for this situation to become a laughable Remember When, but when called up as a Remember When extra humor usually stems from it.
3. Dreadfully Scary could have been Fatal Remember When: a moment that first causes terror before humor ever comes into play.  An instant when looked back upon to laugh still comes with a twinge of "holy heck that could have ended so differently"but because we know the ending we can be grateful we can now use it to play Remember When

On sunday I had the privilege of playing the delectable Remember When game with my aunt Marianne
and cousin Lindsay. We got chuckling about the time Lindsay, who was 14 at the time, took my then 2 year old brother john on a three wheeler ride up at Bear Lake.
John loved to wear hats back then and as he and Lindsay zoomed across the beach his hat flew off! flying hats always cause such commotion and that's when a #3 Remember When moment occurred... in the effort to hurry and spin around to catch John's lose hat John's head collided with the three wheelers handle bars giving him a nice slice next to his eye. the result was a quick jaunt up to Montpelier Idaho hospital where john received a butterfly stitch to save the day.  Johnny still has a little scar from his battle wound. (which fortunately for us adds to the humor of the remember when)

look close and find john's bear lake battle wound
oh it was fun. my mind concluded at that moment how often children are hurt when they are young and surprisingly come out seeming quite invincible. a curious thought since later that night our little family would be having our first #3 Remember When moment with george!

Sunday night james was walking down our stairs and took a little slip slide down on his rumpus.

I was sitting on the couch and heard the commotion and saw my lanky husband bumbly make it down the final steps.  my first reaction, laughter! lurpy but coordinated james had finally slipped down the stairs and now no longer had the right to gawk and make fun of the those that are usually doing the slipping. but my laughter turned to utter fear when my brain alerted me to the fact that he was holding
 George!!!!!
I always wondered when my motherly instinct would come in and it flooded through me at that moment! I ran to scoop up my baby only to see snot and barf smothered all over his face!! james fall had literally scared the snot out of our boy!!! I thought for sure George's battle with stairs would come when he was older, I never imagined his father would take him for his first thrill ride!
fortunately for us though, our baby is invincible. and while the shock of it all took us all night to get over (george slept in our room that night) we have George's first Remember When.
and i'll take it, even if it was the worst kind,
because I really love that game,
it's what life is made of.
