a long wordy post for a simple easy question

me and my cousin lindsay, due 2 weeks apart!  no we didn't call each other the night before!

Some historical facts about me...

the night before I received my driver's license my mom warned me we would be leaving at the crack of dawn to beat rush hour at the D.M.V.. I believed her; I really did and took the matter quite seriously.  I would gather that most 16 year old's upon hearing this news, girls especially, would then give the matter further thought and put a little effort into choosing what outfit they were going to wear.  And perhaps do a little run over of what make up would enhance the picture that would represent them until they turned 21.

I on the other hand didn't skip a beat.  I went on with my night, waited for my mom to come wake me bright and early the next morning, rolled out of bed, put on a t-shirt, with a plaid button up shirt over it, (only half way buttoned up though because I wasn't completely immune to hip late 90's fashion), and then to top it all off put on some overalls.  yes, getting dressed first would mean that I didn't shower, which also concludes I didn't do my hair.  I more or less looked like a hilly billy at 15 getting their license to pull a tractor, not a hot young blond out to turn heads looking spiffy behind the wheel.

I wish I had a copy of the license still, because as my uncle so kindly remarked after seeing my mug shot, " you look like you fell off  the ugly tree".  I had to agree with him, I wasn't exactly a vision of loveliness.

That was the beginning years of high school and you'd think the everyday visual of myself would spark some interest in trying to look less like I had been found underneath a rock, but nope, I went right on wearing my overalls.  My driver's license, debit card and any other vital personal information was paper clipped together and slipped into my back pocket.  Purses were nansy pansy sort of things, who wanted to be froofy enough to carry one of those! I shunned the idea of makeup, and don't get me started on my eyebrows, there was definitely two of them (thank heavens) but they were ferocious!

Fortunately, over the years I was bullied into changing my ways.  One day my mom physically pinned me down grabbed my hands, sat on me, and tweezed the guts out of my eyebrows while I kicked and screamed from the pain and anguish such little hairs inflicted as the formation of two brows appeared! It was quite the feat as my aunts had tried and made mention of the need of a good eyebrow plucking more then once.  Second, while visiting NYC with my aunts, a city of higher fashion, I was told makeup was a must for all our outings and they painted my face most gleefully, teaching me the art of enhancing ones features with color (to which my uncle upon seeing a picture of my made up face said I no longer looked like a fugitive!)  Begrudgingly purses came much later, when i finally had need for a wallet and car keys, chap stick and other necessities, some sort of carrying case was needed.

Even with all this it seems history is doomed to repeat itself.  Now that I'm pregnant and entering another realm of womanhood it seems I'm back to square one and need the tutelage of my girly peers to fill me in on a new faddy beauty trend.  Why on earth is every pregnant mama out there paying to have professional pictures taken of them and their big Buddha belly?

I'm all for capturing moments of time through a professional lens and gleefully celebrating the wonderfulness of your body being capable of giving life and joyfully watching a child grow.  I get all the sentimental value but seriously, I'm stretched out, huge, and awkward right now and as much as I love that I'll soon meet the fruit of my loins, I would rather have a picture of him out then in! Am I crazy in this thought process? Have I once again reverted to my hill billy ways? I'm sure the overalls would be comfy once again if I had saved them to fit over my protruding belly.

I need the further enlightenment of all beautiful women out there, because seriously I think I'm missing the boat big time on this one. But forunately for me, this go around I don't think anyone would have the muscle to pin my pregnant girth down!

some tits for tats.....

as of late I have felt nothing really note worthy has been going on in our daily lives, but I suppose if you let enough time go by sooner or later something will build up in your brain and linger there long enough for it to finally become blog worthy. so here in no particular order are some things I've been looming over and since pictures only edify my thoughts I'll include some fun ones...

safety first....
A picture speaks a thousand words right? I don't really hear words when I look at this picture, only the shrill cackles of pubescence and the echo of stupidity that radiates from their scrawny little faces.  I half expect to still see dribble and food running down their chins but fortunately for us they have mastered the art of the napkin in their fourteenth year.  Yes, our summer came to an end with my youngest brothers, The Twins!, turning 15! And entering into a hallowed apprenticeship of permitted driving.  The holy grail of all numbers, 16, is less then a year away for these two young men.  While they may look like they are 12, they act like they are 8.  But as luck would have it 8 + 8 = 16 and the two of them have put it together that their driving education should already be under way with someone taking them for some slick, mind boggling loops around the driving range! However, we decided to first test their skills around my parents yard.  Hang out to your helmets kids; it's one bumpy ride. (and McKay was nice enough to add some drama with some awesome sound effects)

Matt wanted to put me in the wheel barrow and push me around but I being an onry and boring sister  had to decline. That and I'm pretty sure this baby boy of mine would have wondered why he was already being dropped on his head before he even came into the world.

Matt and McKay's eagerness to learn how to drive has only slowed my willingness to really except what motherhood might entail.  surely the twins only act this way because by the time they were created there wasn't enough "normal" gene's to pass on and then the poor dears had to divide them up between the two of them, (whether it was an even split is still up to question). I often wondered where mothers find the emotion to carry them through the woes of child rearing and I think it starts as soon as one finds out they have conceived.  While this child will get first pickings of whatever genes I have to offer he's already pushing my buttons, or rather my bladder, rips, lungs and esophagus.  nothing short of what any mother hasn't gone through during her pregnancies. but I feel the the acid reflex hes' brought on is going to come back to burn him in his adolescent years. I feel like Simba, except for working on my roar, I'm building up great balls of acid fire, a stinging bitter taste that will one day explode from my lips and scorch his little behind like some fire breathing dragon!  Let's just hope he comes out as funny as his young uncles.
a foreshadowing of things to come!
